This is a one day class

This workshop will show you how to make clay sing! Learn the history of whistles and how to create your own ceramic whistle in easy to follow, step-by-step instructions.  Before beginning to work with your clay, you will learn a few concepts about how whistles work so you can sketch and plan your project. Whistles will be made, dried and glazed during this one-day workshop.  “Dr. Joyce” will take the whistles home and fire them in her kiln. Within a week the whistles will be either mailed back to the participants or brought back to ASA for pick up.

Materials students should provide: The instructor will provide all materials.  *If you need to have your whistle shipped then there will be an added shipping fee.

Materials provided by the instructor:

Clay, glazes and firing. 

 

Fee: $50 for ASA members and $55 for non-members.

Expected ability Level: No experience necessary.

 

Number of Students: Minimum 6 / Maximum 12

Cancellation Policy:
If a student cancels or withdraws from a class:
One week or more before a class begins, a cancellation fee of $5 for ASA plus the amount required by the instructor will be charged.
Less than one week before a class begins, no refund of registration and materials fees will be made.
If one or more classes in a series are missed due to student absence no refund will be made. Make up sessions may or may not be offered at the discretion of individual instructors.
ASA will make every effort to conduct classes as scheduled. ASA will attempt to remain open during inclement weather. If necessity requires, ASA will cancel classes and studio activities whenever local school closures occur. If ASA cancels a class for any reason: A full refund of class registration and materials fees will be made.
ASA will make every effort to notify students of class cancellations at least one week in advance.
