Chapel by the Sea (CBTS) in their relationship with the Head Start program have turned their biggest event of the year into an annual event.  It is not open to the pubic and this is the first year they are inviting anyone outside of CBTS and Head Start.  This year they are inviting ASA, the Glass Guild, leadership and artists from the Cultural Center as well as elementary school principals, a representative from the library and the Mayor.

The children work all October and November to make holiday art, including ornaments, turning it into a reception for the kids and an opportunity for people to purchase a $1-$3 piece of art. The artists are honored and featured like we would in our gallery!  This year there will be students ages 3 - 5 1/2 actually doing live portraits of anyone who wants their portrait done.  What a hoot!  They will be doing a scribble art portrait.  (There is a hint in the looks of the invitation.)  The Artists get to use their proceeds to buy little gifts for their family. CBTS provides free gift wrapping, so the kids take home their items and hide them under the tree.

Don't miss it!

Murals on ASA

Steve Rutherford

Plan and considerations. Proposed that 1st mural will be on the south wall. Steve brought in a photograph file with some ideas. We will be doing a request for proposal and the artist/artists selected will receive funds to paint the mural. We’re hoping for a collaboration.

Silverton, OR has a mural society that we will want to look into and see how they handle theirs.

We are looking into submitting proposals for grants with various agencies to help with this project.

Pacific Artists Co-Op

Michele Lindsley

The Co-Op is hosting a Taft Middle High School evening event from 5 to 7 Friday, December 13. Chapel by the Sea has a wonderful working relationship with the Head Start program. The biggest event of the year has now become an annual event. It is not open to the public and this is the first year they have invited anyone outside of the Chapel by the Sea and Head Start. This year they are inviting ASA, the Glass Guild, and leadership and artists from the Cultural Center as well as Elementary School Principals, a representative from the library and the Mayor.

This Head Start Gallery Opening and Sale will be on Tuesday, December 10th with showings at 11:45 AM, 3:30 PM, and 4:00 PM

See this ASA Update for more details and a copy of the invitation. Come meet the artists and see their handiwork!

Volunteers needed! Paint the hallway

Christina Moore

Friday, December 6th, Christina Moore needs volunteers to help paint the hallway between the Co-Op and ASA. She would like people to be there at 10 AM and estimates that it may take up to 2 hours to complete, depending how many people respond. Please let Christina know if you are available to help (cevmoore89@gmail.com)
