Meet Lorraine Goris, Our New Gallery Coordinator

Lorraine moved from Colorado to Lincoln City in 2014 to fulfill her dream of living by the ocean.  A passionate dabbler in all art forms, she loves to learn and enjoys the many opportunities to take classes at ASA, Sitka, and the Cultural Center.

She holds a BFA in Fiber and enjoys weaving, dying, embellishment, quilting and all fiber techniques.  She also loves clay, oil, acrylic, water color, pen, pencil and even kelp!

In her own words, "I'm delighted to be a part of the ASA community and look forward to supporting and promoting everyone in the gallery space.  Feel free to send me a note, I'm here for you!”

Welcome to Michele Lindsley, ASA Marketing Coordinator

The ASA has a brand new volunteer position and a new volunteer. Welcome Michele Lindsley. Michele is also an instructor at the ASA and the featured Artist of the Month for April. Michele made Depoe Bay her permanent home in 2016 having traded in the hot Arizona desert for the lush green woods and thundering Oregon coastlines. Smart gal! Michele is a mixed media artist. Her colorful and imaginative creations are a mixture of mediums including acrylics, polymer clays, collage, and “doodads” all layered on a variety of substrates. Michele states they reflect, in part, who she is and how she sees herself in the world.

Michele tells us that throughout her life she has occasionally taken art classes but most of her “art education” is based on first-hand experience and observation. She has enjoyed visiting many great destinations in North America, the Caribbean, Europe and the South Pacific and felt great pleasure standing toe-to-toe with great works of art.

"My business and marketing background includes 20+ years in promoting worldwide luxury travel", says Michele. "Today, I am one of many ASA member artists who displays work in the Beachstone Gallery. I teach a few classes. Why do more? Why help market ASA? Because getting other people excited about participating in art, buying it or making it, is rewarding. I like sharing the opportunity to create. Art enriches our lives.”

Our new interim Secretary is Holly Taglier

Holly has been appointed by the Board to serve as Secretary until the next membership elections. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Holly has been an Oregonian since 1999. She's sold shoes, cut hair, ghost written correspondence for the president of Bank of America, raised chickens to sell on Craigslist, been a member of the OSU faculty, and finally ended her illustrious career menagerie as paralegal for the US Attorney's Office in Portland. But she's always loved art.

She's long loved looking at and playing with line and color whether painting a still life, planting a garden, or remodeling a house. She's enjoyed studying art throughout her youth and adult life and taught both art practice and art appreciation to students in grades Kindergarten through Eighth. While Holly's explored multiple media, her current focus is watercolor and mixed media. Since retiring from paralegal work in 2019, she's enjoyed living an artful life. You can contact Holly at secretary@asaart.net
