Thursday Guided Open Studio with Arlon Gilliland
September 23rd
One of our most valued perks for ASA members is back on Thursday afternoons!

Tomorrow, Thursday, September 23rd from 1 to 4 pm, Arlon will host his weekly Guided Open Studio in the ASA Classroom. The project this week will be Painting on Yupo paperWhat is Yupo paper?  Yupo paper is a tree-free synthetic paper that's 100% recyclable AND waterproof. Being water-resistant makes this paper ideal for use with watercolors as Yupo doesn't absorb the paint like ordinary watercolor paper would. Because of this, you'll notice nice textures that form as the paint dries on the Yupo paper.

Registration is not required but currently masks are. Please be prepared to show proof of vaccination.

Please remember that Open Studio is for current ASA members.

It’s time to “Fall into Autumn” with our upcoming Beachstone Gallery rehanging. Opening Friday, October 8, for public viewing reception.

We have several new members at ASA and with Covid restrictions changing often, we need a Gallery review:  To qualify as a “member with display privileges” you must be up to date in payment of your membership fees in the amount of $50.00. This not only qualifies you to participate in the quarterly Gallery hangings but secures a bin for matted art pieces and a shelf in the card gallery. In addition, you can also sign up to be a “Featured Artist” of the month, giving you free publicity in local publications and the use of the mantel area for your art display during your chosen month.

Gallery art piece reminder:  Your art must have the required hanging hardware attached to the piece. Overly large, bulky, or heavy pieces will not be hung on the wall due to liability concerns for your art and other’s safety. (Please review rules and regulations of the Beachstone Gallery in the Membership area of our website). We do have a small table area where a heavy piece may be displayed, at Gallery discretion.

We will accept art into our Gallery by 5:00pm, October 4th. Please place protected art under the copy machine, in supply room, in marked space, or on available tables filling out your forms and attaching correct price tag to backs. If you had art in the previous Show, remove it at that time and take it home, we do not keep/store your past art pieces. We can “rehang” your last art, please put it in reserved space and note the piece with that request, adding proper notation on forms.

The current guidelines are as follows: 3 pieces of small art (up to 9 X 12); 2 pieces of medium sized art (up to 16 X 20), or one small and one medium; or 1 piece of generous sized art (up to 36 inches on any one size.

We will strive to display your art in a pleasing manner. The display committee has sole discretion on the placement of art in the studio. Only the gallery committee is permitted to organize or display art. If you have questions or suggestions for the committee, please contact the gallery chair. No additional display equipment may be brought into the Gallery unless arranged through the Gallery chair. Please note: Members may not move any art (their own or others) once the display is “set” by the Gallery chair/chairs. Please refer to the Gallery Rules and Regulations found in the member’s section under the Beachstone Gallery area, for any additional questions/answers.

Thank you and let's make this “Fall into Autumn” a beautiful artistic statement!
