   BEACHSTONE HAPPENINGS

"RE-HANG"

Well, the Beachstone Gallery has been rehung for spring and I think it looks great. We had so many pieces submitted this time and I was afraid we’d have to either cut down on pieces per person or really crowd the walls. But we got it all up and, although there’s more art on the walls than I’ve seen in a long time, it all went together really well. My thanks to Richard, Michelle and Nancy for doing such a great job. And thanks to all the artists this time who got their artwork in on time with tags and paperwork complete.  It helps so much.
Please pick up your art pieces that were taken down as soon as possible. The utility room is pretty crowded now and I worry about keeping the artwork safe.

There are a couple of gallery-related issues that I need to bring up.
1. Bins
Being able to put some of your work into a bin is a perk of membership. We have a lot of new members who would like bin space as well as several older members who would like space as well. This means that each bin needs to accommodate several artists, four per bin on average. I need to ask that each of you monitor your bin space, taking into account that 2-3 other artists need to share that space, 10 pieces per artist at the most. I appreciate your help and courtesy on this issue.

2. Card Racks
The same problem applies to the card racks.  Each artist has had access to one rack section for their cards but, again, we are running out of space. I see two possible options. One would be to give each artist half a rack for their cards. I would prefer not to do this as there would be room for only two rows of cards for each artist. The second would be to add more racks lower down which is not an ideal spot. But we could minimize the inequities of shelf position by rotating the shelves each month. That way everyone would have some time on the top row, in the middle and on the bottom. Let me know what you think and if you have any other suggestions.

Don’t forget about the reception on Friday. I’d still like to find another artist to demonstrate how they do their work. Let me know if you’re interested.

Thank you,
