About this event

The Art of Gratitude: A Mixed Media Journal Class

Saturday, November 14, 2026 | 10:00 AM–3:00 PM ASA Classroom | Lincoln City, Oregon

Gratitude can be expressed in many ways—through words, color, texture, images, and the simple act of slowing down to notice the beauty in our everyday lives. The Art of Gratitude is a creative mixed media journaling class designed to bring art and reflection together.

During this hands-on workshop, participants will explore gratitude through layers of paint, collage, meaningful words, personal imagery, mark-making, and other mixed media techniques. Rather than focusing on creating a “perfect” finished piece, this class encourages participants to enjoy the creative process, experiment freely, and develop journal pages that are personal and meaningful.

We will explore ways to use color, texture, found papers, favorite words and phrases, and simple journaling prompts to tell our own stories of gratitude. Participants will have time to create, reflect, share ideas, and discover how an art journal can become an ongoing place for recording memories, inspiration, and the things—both large and small—that bring joy to our lives.

This class is appropriate for a variety of experience levels. No previous art journaling experience is necessary. Participants are encouraged to bring their curiosity, imagination, and willingness to play with art materials.

Class Goals

Participants will: Learn basic mixed media and art journaling techniques. Experiment with layering, collage, color, texture, words, and imagery. Explore creative prompts centered around gratitude and appreciation. Develop personal journal pages that reflect their own experiences and stories. Gain ideas and inspiration for continuing a gratitude art-journaling practice at home.

At the end of our day together, participants will leave with completed or in-progress mixed media journal pages, new creative techniques to explore, and inspiration for continuing to find and document moments of gratitude through art journaling.

Beginners welcome, no experience necessary.
