Spending time with fellow artists is an excellent way to recharge your creative battery! ASA members can mix, mingle, and network with other members at a variety of social gatherings.

Art Receptions

Each quarter, both the ASA Gallery and the Pacific Artists Co-Op Gallery (the gallery in the front) do a complete display change for their respective galleries. Both groups have a gallery opening and artists' reception on the first Friday of January, April, July and October from 5-7pm (unless otherwise noted.) The event is listed on our events page, and ASA members are encourage to attend, bringing as many people as they like.

ASA members interested in displaying and selling their work are encouraged to follow the link below.

Potlucks

On the last Tuesday of each month, ASA hosts a potluck. The evening is all about coming together—sharing food, conversation, laughter, and the creative spirit that makes our ASA community so special. Please bring your significant other or friend, a favorite dish to share (homemade or store-bought—both are perfect!), and we’ll provide the rest: good company and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

Schedule

5:30-6:30 - Eat and socialize
6:30-7:30 - Announcements, short presentation on an art topic to help on the art journey.

Programs

May 25 - JoAnn Ballantyne: Ireland: The Art Class That Wasn’t. Proof That Travel Plans Are Merely Suggestions
June 30 - Ilene Samowitz: Photography Tips
July 28 - Jodi McFarland: Social Media

Open Studies, Classes, and Workshops

Throughout the year, ASA offers a wide variety of classes and meetings where you can find people who will excite you with their unique creations and inspire you to new ideas. Members receive a discount on classes. Instructors range from local to visiting and teach a wide variety of mediums.

Events

We have three Open Studios most weeks. Open Studios are free to ASA members. Guest may attend the first time for free. Our facilitators donate their time and expertise to these weekly classes, and donations are always welcome.

Mosaic Open Studio

Tuesday - 1:30-4:00

Participants should have an entry level knowledge of the process, tools and supplies. Our facilitator, Rosemary Wood-Hemm, will teach safety and guide you in using tools in making your art piece. There is no formal instruction during the open studio. Glass and grout are supplied, so a small donation is appreciated. The ASA Mosaic Guild meets once a month for guild business meetings.

Painting Open Studio

Wednesday - 10:00-3:00

JoAnn Ballantyne is the facilitator, but everyone is both student and teacher. No experience is necessary. Artists work in both acrylic and watercolor. Bring your own materials. Donations welcome.

Guided Painting Studio

Thursday - 12:00-4:00

Arlon Gilliland will plan a painting project for members to follow along. He demonstrates different techniques, methods and subjects using watercolor and acrylic. Members may also bring their own projects to work on, get advice and coaching. No materials provided. Bring your own paint brushes and substrate. Donations welcome.
