- June 12 - Creative Crayons with Caran d'Ache. NEOCOLOR™ II AQUARELLE crayons by Caran d'Ache are more than an accent for watercolor paintings. These versatile tools can be used to accent, build, or enhance works of all water-soluble mediums. Students do not have to purchase crayons for the class.
- June 13 (rescheduled) - Upcycled Garden Flowers. Join Jen Henry Morris for a fun, hands-on class where you'll learn how to transform everyday items into beautiful, whimsical garden flowers. Discover the beauty of creating your own upcycled, eco-friendly "flower" that brings vibrant color and lasting charm to your garden.
- June 19-20 - Abstract Starts in Watercolor. Painting design can make or break a painting. Award-winning artist Jeanine Miller demonstrates her method for starting a watercolor with abstract shapes

| June Featured Artist: Bill Cary
| Bill Cary is a man of many talents. While working primarily in water media, he has branched out to include stoneware ceramics. A resident of the Oregon coast, Bill works from observation and photo references. The changing seascape, the capes and headlands, coastal forest, rivers, and abundant wildlife offer rich subject matter. When working in clay, he builds his pieces on the wheel or by hand. His functional stoneware pottery--including cups, mugs, plates, and bowls--are inspired by nature's palette.

These improvements reflect ASA’s continued commitment to being more than a place to create art—they help make ASA a place to experience art every time you walk through the door.

While many ASA members may only enter the building through the back door, ASA is responsible for the entire building and grounds. A gardening group meets on Sundays from 10am-noon to weed, trim, and generally beautify. If that time works for you, come join us! If another time fits your schedule better, come on down! Studio Monitor for Learning and Connection
We are also excited to introduce a new monitor in the studio designed to support both education and engagement within our art community.
During classes, instructors will use the monitor as a teaching and demonstration tool, improving visibility and enhancing the learning experience for students. Outside of class time, the screen will become a daily ASA showcase featuring:
• Current and upcoming classes
• Featured artists and member artwork
• Events and community happenings
• Announcements and opportunities
• Highlights from life at ASA
This new addition creates a dynamic way to celebrate our artists, share information, and keep members connected to the creative energy happening throughout ASA.
| | Dedicated Mat Cutting Area
We are also exploring the creation of a dedicated mat cutting area for member and classroom use. This space is being thoughtfully considered to support artists in preparing and presenting their work while expanding practical resources available within the studio. Details are still being developed, and more information will be shared as plans move forward—stay tuned!

If you are one of the lucky artists who sold a piece in the ASA gallery, you may wonder when you will be paid. Jen Henry, the ASA treasurer, issues checks for pieces sold the month before by the 15th. In practical terms, this means a check will be issued June 15 for art sold in May. Occasionally, travel plans interfere with this goal. Regardless, checks will be no later than the end of the month. | | |  | Silent Auction Announcement: Bid on Our Robot Vacuum!
The ASA Board is holding a Silent Auction for our Gallery Robot Vacuum Cleaner! This is a fun opportunity to support the gallery while taking home a very useful prize.
Auction Details
- Starting Bid: $50
- Bid Increments: Minimum increases of $10
- Auction Dates: June 1 – June 15
- Location of Bid Sheet: Outside the Art Intake Room, next to the vacuum cleaner
Participants may add their bids to the sign-up sheet during the auction period. The highest bidder at the close of the auction will be contacted and arrangements made for pickup of the vacuum. We invite members and friends to stop by, place a bid, and help support the ongoing needs of the gallery.
Thank you for supporting the ASA community! |  | Summer is a PRIME season to offer an art class (or two). The more lead time you provide, the more opportunities for promotion. If you have an idea for an art/craft/maker class, give Tara Choate a signal and she can get you on the schedule.
A group is exploring developing "beginners" courses in drawing, watercolor, acrylic, and oil, if you have been thinking about trying your hand at teaching but aren't sure what you should teach. The idea would be to have a series of four week, half-day classes rotating through the mediums every few months.
If you are interested... you know what to do.
