| July Artists of the Month | | This month we feature two artists, Karen Wolf and Deb Wolf, who have teamed up as featured artists. | Karen Wolf enjoys creating mixed-media works that represent a journey through time, space, place, and nature. From an early age, Karen was interested in drawing and painting. Naturally, art was her favorite subject and she continued to be creative in her spare time while working. Now that she's retired, Karen and spend her time painting and drawing. Karen joined ASA in 2025, took some classes, and began exhibiting her paintings.
Karen was born and raised in California. She grew up to work in a state civil service position for twenty-eight (28) years. When she retired, she moved to Whidbey Island, Washington, before moving Lincoln City in 2025. Close to the water and beach is home.
| Deb Wolf is a mosaic artist hailing from the other land of sun, beautiful beaches, and crashing waves (California). It’s no surprise that she fell in love with the king tides and sneaker waves of her adopted retirement community. She calls Lincoln City home, along with her beautiful artist wife, Karen Wolf.
After one mosaic class at ASA, Deb was hooked. She joined ASA and the mosaic guild a year ago, and is inspired daily by the beauty of her adopted home and other talented artists. Deb's mother was an amazing crafter and grew up taking summer classes for candle making, basket weaving, and mosaics. She uses her mosaics to make garden art, along with driftwood and sea glass. | Dear ASA Members,

Have you stopped by lately? If not, take a peek at the new mat cutting room under construction in the Art Intake Room. A huge thank you to Joe Speer and Steve Rutherford, whose volunteer time, craftsmanship, and dedication are bringing this project to life. It's looking great!
I know they wouldn't turn down any help offered to paint the new room!
| Our new large-screen television has arrived and will soon be installed in the classroom, providing an excellent resource for workshops, demonstrations, and educational programs.
|  | Landscaping improvements are also moving forward as we've reviewed another bid and will be instructing the workers.
We're excited to announce ASA's first digital advertisement on VisitTheOregonCoast.com. This new marketing effort introduces visitors to our gallery, classes, and artists while encouraging travelers to include ASA as a stop during their stay on the Central Coast.
The Board is also applying for the Lincoln City Nonprofit Grant Program to help fund needed building improvements. These upgrades will help keep our studio safe, welcoming, and ready to continue serving our members and the community through art, education, and cultural enrichment.

The treasurer will record your payment and send an email confirmation upon receipt. | Changes: ASA Refund Policy | Effective July 1, 2026, ASA will have a new refund policy for classes and workshops.
- All Refunds requested five (5) business days or more than the date of the class will receive a full refund less any credit card processing fees.

- Credit card processing fees are non-refundable. If a payment made by credit card is refunded, any credit card processing fees charged at the time of payment will be deducted from the refund amount.

- Membership and Display fees are non-refundable.
To request a refund, please email the ASA Treasurer and provide your name, the class you are cancelling, the amount paid, and your mailing address.
| Proposal for Vote: Artist Payments via Zelle | As part of our ongoing effort to improve how we operate and pay our Artists, one idea the Board has been discussing is using Zelle to pay our Artists.
What is Zelle?
Zelle is a digital bank to bank digital payment system that allows people to send and receive money directly between bank accounts using only a U.S. email address or mobile phone number.
Potential Benefits
- Fast payments: Funds are typically delivered within minutes when both parties are enrolled.
- No fees: Sending and receiving money through participating banks is generally free.
- Direct deposits: Payments go straight into the recipient's bank account—no separate wallet or app required for most users.
- Convenient: Many artists may already have access to Zelle through their existing bank.
Things to Consider
- Artists must have a U.S. bank account that supports Zelle.
- Payments are generally difficult to reverse once sent, so payment information must be verified carefully before sending.

We recently had two fun-filled days in the ASA Studio with watercolor and mixed media artist, Jeannine Miller. Jeannine traveled from her Red Barn Studio in Hillsboro to share a new technique called "abstracted starts".
Using abstract starts helps to bring the viewer's attention to the area of your painting that you feel is the center of interest. It is also a way to subtly move the viewer's eye through your picture with intentional and directional shape setting. | I found this difficult to grasp at first, but once I caught on, "what a concept"!!
Jeannie admitted she had as much fun as her students, whom she was very proud of. She shared that she loves teaching because she also learns from her students. We love to be inspired!! | | Welcome new members:
