There’s a lot happening behind the scenes at ASA!
Landscaping
The landscaping is done! There are still a few little details to finish, but isn’t it pretty? We’re also discussing the addition of a heron mosaic to the large stone near the entrance door. The mosaic studio will be rearranging the many stepping stones around the dry riverbed to create a more decorative and finished look.
Mat Cutting Room
The Mat Cutting Room is nearly complete. Thank you Steve Rutherford and Joe Speer! This expensive equipment was generously donated to ASA by member Bonnie Holubetz and given to the Board to establish the rules, boundaries, regulations, and safety procedures for its use.The mat cutter will not be available for public use. Only ASA members who have completed the necessary training and steps established by the Board will be permitted to use the equipment. The machine has delicate blades and presents safety and liability concerns, so the Board is taking the time to carefully develop the program. We expect to complete our review and decisions soon and will share the program details with ASA members.
Banking
Changes to banking and class refund policies are in final review. Watch for note from our Treasure, Jen Henry.
Newsletters
Future monthly newsletters will share highlights from the monthly Board meetings, given by our Secretary, Christina Villarreal, communication between Board and membership is important.
Mural
Due to health concerns, our formal mural selection process had to be on temporary hold with a new date of September 12 given for the final decision to be made....stand by!
Looking Ahead to 2027
Believe it or not, 2027 is getting close—and that means several key positions on the ASA Board will be opening.
- Do you have some management experience? (President, VP)
- Want to learn more about ASA? Consider becoming a Member-at-Large. You’ll learn more about how a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization operates, have an opportunity to share your ideas and opinions, and have a vote in ASA decisions.
- Perhaps you’d enjoy being our “Keeper of the Keys” and helping with the security of our building?
- Maybe you’re a handy person who enjoys giving an old building a little TLC?
- Could you put together a committee for food snacks needed at the quarterly receptions?
Our 2026 Board is a cheerleading team of dedicated ASA supporters. We each bring different skills, ideas, and energy to the table, but we all share a love for ASA and what it provides to our community. There are lots of small—and important—things happening behind the scenes where your skills could make a difference. It truly takes a village. Look around the next time you’re at ASA and see what this village has produced—and perhaps think about where you might fit in. |
