Artist Tara Choate likes texture and experimentation in her paintings. If you are wanting to "splash out" of your box, join Tara in this one-day class to explore liquid charcoal. Please note: This is not a class where you will walk away with a "pretty picture". This is a class about loosening up and exploring your creativity.

Students: Watercolor paper: Don't go out and buy a whole bunch of high-quality paper. Use the backs of failed paintings or other "repurposed" surfaces. Yupo can be fun. Use white gesso over old paintings for more surfaces. Bring at least 10 surfaces. This is one area you can't bring too much. We'll be doing a lot of exercises. - Paintbrushes (whatever works for you) - Pencil. Optional!!! - Whatever watercolor (or acrylic, or...) palette you normally use - Reference photos: We are going to start out the day painting boring things (like pears) to work on technique. As we move through the exercises it may be helpful to have a few reference photos that have meaning for you. - Collage papers: If you choose, bring a page of bright, colorful paper and the medium to stick it down (don't go overboard.) Note: This is not a class where you will walk away with a "pretty picture". This is a class about loosening up and exploring your creativity

Registration cancellations will be accepted until Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 12:01 AM

Cancellation Policy:

If a student cancels or withdraws from a class:
One week or more before a class begins, a cancellation fee of $5 for ASA plus the amount required by the instructor will be charged.
Less than one week before a class begins, no refund of registration and materials fees will be made.
If one or more classes in a series are missed due to student absence no refund will be made. Make up sessions may or may not be offered at the discretion of individual instructors.
ASA will make every effort to conduct classes as scheduled. ASA will attempt to remain open during inclement weather. If necessity requires, ASA will cancel classes and studio activities whenever local school closures occur. If ASA cancels a class for any reason: A full refund of class registration and materials fees will be made.
ASA will make every effort to notify students of class cancellations at least one week in advance.
