Participants should have an entry level knowledge of the process, tools and supplies. Our facilitator, Rosemary Wood-Hemm, will teach safety and guide you in using tools in making your art piece. There is no formal instruction during the open studio. Glass and grout are supplied for a small, much appreciated donation.
Gather, create, and learn together in a shared studio experience. Artists of all levels come together to explore, experiment, and inspire one another. Explore watercolor and feel free to add collage, pastel, acrylics, inks, printmaking techniques, or other mediums. This is a space for discovery, conversation, problem-solving, and artistic community.
This studio is designed to explore particular topics in a free and comfortable way. Topics change weekly. The instructor is usually Arlon Gilliland, but can occasionally change.

Jeannine Miller shows how to start a watercolor with abstract shapes. Because of the transparent properties of watercolors, Jeannine finds it exciting to start a painting with abstract shapes and washes. These shapes and colors appear through the subsequent imagery, adding color, texture, contrast, and interest. Jeannine will teach the steps to start an exciting watercolor in a fun and rewarding format.

Members should collect their artwork from the last quarter (or before) and drop off new pieces for the gallery refresh.
The ASA Gallery team will spend the day refreshing the gallery with new art.
This evening is all about coming together—sharing food, conversation, laughter, and the creative spirit that makes our ASA community so special. Please bring your significant other or friend who might like to meet ASA members, a favorite dish to share (homemade or store-bought—both are perfect!), and we’ll provide the rest: good company and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
