A WORD FROM OUR GALLERY COORDINATOR
Instructors:
If you are teaching a class or moderating an open studio this next quarter, please make use of the instructor's wall with samples of the work that will be done, information about yourself or anything else that you think might be of interest to people. The more that is on that wall, the more attention it garners and I think it can be very useful for upcoming classes.
Art Bins:
I have been promising myself that I will revamp the art bins for a long time and I'm finally going to get to it. In the past we have had graduated sizes for the bin markers so that the names of each artist could be seen one behind the other. Unfortunately, if the artwork in those bins is larger than the smaller bin dividers, that doesn't work. So I want to make all the bin dividers the same size and, as I have suggested in the past, I urge artists to put information about themselves and their artwork on the from of the bin divider so that people see it right away and, hopefully, will be encouraged to look at the art behind the divider.
I also want to get into a routine of moving the artwork around in the bin so that we don't end up with one artist always in the front or always in the back. However, if the artwork that you put in the bin is larger than the bin dividers, you should expect that your art will normally stay in the back.
If you have any suggestions to improve the bins, don't hesitate to let me know. Kathy Cope: Gallery Coordinator
Volunteers:
I want to thank Jill Stanoszek and Melissa Gann for volunteering to help monitor and purchase supplies for the kitchen and bathroom. It is a relief to me to know that someone else is keeping track of those items. With more hands doing the work, the work becomes easier and is done better. I appreciate it.
