This is a 1 day class
Open to students of all ability levels, no experience needed.
Please bring some imagery that you would like to use as the subject matter of your painting. Paper for the project will be provided as will the charcoal for drawing your imagery and the ink used in the process.
You will draw an outline of the subjects in your painting, then paint the objects, leaving the charcoal lines. Once the paint has dried you will cover the entire painting with India ink. After the ink is thoroughly dried you will run water on the painting and gently brush off most of the India ink, leaving portions of the tempera paint on the painting. The India ink will go into the places where the charcoal was on the paper and make dark lines. Once finished you may go back into the painting to refresh some of the color as you like. The painting is then covered front and back with a sealer to protect and preserve the artwork.
Due to the number of steps required the class will require a full day 10:00 am – 4:00 pm session.
The students will leave with finished project(s).
The student will supply: Tempera paints (if student wants special colors), brushes you enjoy using – at least one each of small, medium and large brush. Teacher will provide primary color and white tempera
paints.
Expected ability Level: Beginners welcome, no experience necessary.
