From: Artists' Studio

Hello everyone,

This is the fourth of a series of articles from our ASA Board and members. These will be anything from a tour of their studio to a description of what they've been doing during 2020 and the shutdown up to now.

We hope these will give you some ideas and inspiration to keep your creative juices flowing.

The following is a tour of Lynne Wintermute's studio. Lynne is both a displaying member of ASA and one of our most popular instructors.

Keep an eye out on our website for Lynne's classes!

Lynne Wintermute

Welcome to a short tour of my studio -

This first picture is my working wall. It is really helpful to be able to get away from your work while in process, I hope to add spotlights, light is always good!

One corner of my studio has a big map cabinet, essential for storing papers and supplies. Bookshelves for art books, another shelf for paintings in process and a comfy chair for reading.

My floors are foam 24 x 24 tiles. I work standing so soft floors are wonderful.

Art is a business as well as a passion for me. So a good work space for preparing teaching handouts, making slide presentations, keeping track of where my art is, etc., is important.

Behind my desk I have two large shelving units. One for acrylic supplies and one for oils and class materials.

In the next photo there is a close up of my Acrylic supplies. I put all my fluid acrylics on shelves used for spices so I can easily see the colors.

In this photo you see my work table. It is a 4 X 8 surface on two storage shelves (like garage storage, separated to 2  units), you can never have enough storage!

My pens are on a slanted wood piece that might have been for spices. My oils are separated by color family and in bins at the end of the table. My palette is an old print that was framed with glass, I took the print out and now I have a big glass palette. Easy to clean

This last photo is my easel with my bins of oils close by. I work both on an easel and on a table top.

I believe that the three most important things to have in a studio are Light ( I am saving for track lights), space ( I have 450 square feet ), and storage. Water near by helps too!

My studio will be open during Art on the Edge the end of May, but studio visitors are always welcome, if vaccinated!

Call first please!
